August 1, 2008    ***" -ZERO SALES TAX WEEKEND !!! !***

Yes, it’s another FREE SALES TAX WEEKEND here at Digi-Tek Computer:    ALL computers, $1,500 and under are 10% off—OR—ZERO state sales tax!.   (Gather that with another incentive found further down, and you can obtain a computer for TWENTY PER CENT OFF!

We have extended our hours this weekend, so you’ll find us opening up earlier and staying open later.

-And don't forget--WE are THE computer shop in town that the big, NATIONAL chains send THEIR customers to--for DC jack power issues on laptops, board level repairs, and "Special Parts Orders".  -If you are experiencing difficulty keeping your battery recharged, or your laptop either suddenly shuts down on its own--or won't power up all the time--unless you wiggle the cord:   -Then STOP using your laptop IMMEDIATELY!

This condition stems from a broken solder joint at the DC jack.  To professionally fix this, the entire laptop must be totally disassembled, layer by layer--each fragile part carefully handled and noted it's position and length (for proper reinstallation), until the motherboard is reached and then removed from the bottom shell of the laptop.  Then schematics are created based on resistance and voltage so that, once the old jack has been desoldered and the solder pads properly cleaned up, that the new jack can be more professionally soldered in and then tested via those schematics, using both resistance without power, and then via voltage alone.

While IN the broken state, the voltage ARC's across the gap created by the break.   This gap CAN create enough heat to burn the solder pad so badly on the motherboard, as to render replacement of the motherboard--which runs many hundreds of dollars.  Therefore, DO NOT WAIT to have this situation fixed.  Bring in your laptop to Digi-Tek, and we can check your DC jack over the counter FOR FREE--and confirm that this is indeed, your problem.   -Like Momma said, 'An ounce of prevention, is well worth a pound of cure...'

We hope to see YOU, at the shop!

July 5, 2008    ***"Tough Times To Turn The Tide…"!***

July Fourth is upon us, and our independence is overshadowed by our dependence on such commodities as foreign oil--that has added to the further stifling of our economy.   Times are indeed, tough.    –Real--tough.

And consequently, tough decisions trickle down and need to be made regarding your computing needs:

Should you repair your computer, or not.

Or, should you replace and upgrade your computer, or not…

Or, should you try to save money and attempt to fix and repair your computer> yourself—or should you spend the bucks and take it to a pro…?

-Milk is now projected to approach $6 per gallon, and with oil at $145 a barrel—who knows what gasoline will end up at.    (The Brits are paying close to $10 per liter—about twice what we are paying.)

Digi-Tek’s rule of thumb has always been that if a repair or service can be done for less than...
